This was a momentous week at La Luma Academy. Imagine if you were a student in beauty school and you had the ability to be the #1 salesperson for a sales franchise before your training was even done? One of our students Annika did that this week. And of course, the obvious questions for me, and all of us, was “how did you do that?”

When I asked her that. She replied, “Andrew it was something that you said to me, “Don’t be afraid to get a ‘no’.”

Most of us spend our lives afraid to give and get a “no”. What are we hiding from? What are we not being responsible for? When you give someone a “no”, you don’t have to actually destroy them. Or be destroyed. You can take it or give it so that it becomes a contribution to all involved. It’s not personal. It just might simply mean “no” for any reason, none of which have anything to do with us.

And at the end of the day, getting and giving ’no’s build us into humans that are resilient and self-sufficient.
