Admissions & Fees

Each of La Luma Academy’s classes are made up of 8 students.

A new group of hairstyling students begins each year in January, May and September. This means that the maximum number of students at La Luma Academy at any one time is 24.

Our enrollment structure provides our students with the opportunity to experience being a part of a team and and trying on leadership roles with their peers as they progress through the program - a unique experience in a post-secondary setting.

There are 2 Primary Points of Assessment for Admission

Ontario Secondary School Diploma or Equivalent

It is an Ontario licensing requirement for hairstylists to have earned their high school diploma before beginning their apprenticeship. Students must provide a copy of their high school diploma to La Luma Academy. If a student has not received or earned their high school diploma prior to beginning the program, they must complete an equivalency test administered by La Luma Academy.

Application & Interview

As a prospective student, you will meet with the Andrew McAleese, Academy Director, and be interviewed as an applicant for the program. The interview focuses on you as a whole person. What we are looking for is your passion and alignment with the program we offer, which is hard to measure, but we believe we’ve gotten pretty great at it! The fees for your education at La Luma include your tuition and your toolkit.

Tuition: $9985

A payment of $833 is due on or before the first of the month for each of the first 6 months of your stylist education.

Your final payment is a lump sum of $4987 paid at the start of your 7th month.

Upon receiving your acceptance, a deposit of $500 is due to reserve your position in the program - this is your first payment towards your Professional Tool Kit.

2 months prior to your start date, the final Tool Kit payment of $1615 is due.
