The Junior Class focuses on developing a strong technical and business foundation, building leadership and relationship skills and forming a resilient team. The Junior phase is spent in the classroom and students are taught through discussion, demos, hands on practice, and experience.
At the end of the Junior phase, students complete 5 Model Days, one for each of the core technical systems taught. Students book a model (a family member, friend, co-worker, etc) to bring to La Luma Academy and perform their first full service, from start to finish, on them.
Some of the key material covered within the Junior Phase is:
Fundamentals (Cutting System)
Great Finish (Blow Dry System)
Salon Experience (Business Class)
Long Hair Cutting (Cutting System)
Barbering

At the beginning of the Intermediate Phase students make the exciting transition to the Salon Floor as Student Stylists. Students are booked services with existing La Luma Academy clientele and are encouraged to begin building their own clientele.
During the Intermediate Phase, services are a collaboration between the Student Stylist and the Salon Floor Lead. The Lead will support and guide all elements of the service, ensure the end result is excellent, completed on time and meets the Guest’s expectation. Students practice delivering a full experience to their Guest including a consultation, head massage, education about products and tools used, pre-booking and completing the service, ensuring a consistent result every time.
Students practice supporting their team on the Salon Floor and train in the role of Salon Floor Assistant. The Assistant ensures that every service is successful, that Guests are provided a high end service and that the Salon Floor is clean and continuously reset. Students practice greeting Guests, booking appointments, and assisting within their peers' services.
Intermediate students take on a leadership role on the Salon Floor and also with the new class of Juniors that join La Luma Academy. Intermediates practice showing up at La Luma as mentors and role models, which supports them in levelling up their leadership skills and prepares them to be an excellent team member in their future salon.

The Senior Phase is when the Students truly begin creating independence and mastery of their craft and begin leading themselves, with the support of their instructors, towards graduation and launching their careers.
Students stand powerfully as leaders and role models for the Intermediate and Junior classes. They share about their experiences on the Salon Floor and the actions they are taking to ensure every service is successful.
Senior Students are focusing on building clientele, achieving goals, mastering technical skills and building independence. Independence is the ability to say when you’ve got it and feel confident in the service, and when you need help to achieve the desired result and expectations. Students practice being fully responsible for their timing, knowledge, skill set and Guest experience.
Students complete their Salon Project, which is an accumulation of all of their knowledge, as they step into the shoes of a Salon Owner. They learn all elements of opening a Salon from the branding and design to finances and budgeting. This allows Students to understand how they get paid and where the money they charge a Guest goes, providing them with an appreciation for their future Salon Owner. They also get to dream and explore the possibility of owning their own Salon and imagine what it would look like to bring their vision to life.
Students graduate from the program grounded in their technical and service skills, passionate and excited for their careers ahead. They are confident leaders who are able to show up, ask for help and receive feedback. Graduates launch into the world ready to achieve their personal and professional goals.
